Description

A remarkable, complete ephemera group for a 1921 Sonora Imperial phonograph, originally sold by Mason’s Music Store in Manchester, New Hampshire, and manufactured by the Sonora Phonograph Sales Company, Inc. of New York City. The lot includes the original outer envelope with hand-written serial or inventory numbering, a blue-accented “Index for Records for the Sonora” booklet, the “Imperial Directions for its Operation and Care” manual, the original retail sales receipt dated December 21, 19made out to a Mr. W.H. White for $140.00, and the corresponding “Guaranty” certificate. This collection provides an invaluable, unbroken provenance trail for an early talking machine enthusiast. The items show expected age-related wear, including mor edge tears, creases, and discoloration on the paper envelopes and booklets, while the two-part guaranty certificate has naturally separated entirely along its original center fold line.
