The Allen Koenigsberg Phonograph Collection
Lot 3452:
Description
Two fantastic, turn-of-the-century promotional catalogs issued by the Columbia Phonograph Company, Gen’l of Bridgeport, Connecticut, capturing the pioneering era of talking machines. The first booklet features a striking, patriotic green cover dated 1906, depicting Columbia/Liberty with an American flag and eagle alongside a phonograph on a classical pedestal. The second booklet boasts an extraordinary grey, heavily textured cover with deep, raised embossed lettering and a repeating pattern of musical notes framing a central Columbia “Gold Moulded” cylinder record graphic. Adding immense historical value, the green 1906 catalog features an interior purple “Property of Columbia Records” and “Archive Item #” archival stamps on the opening pages, while the embossed grey edition contains a handwritten period notation of “1907?” on its primary introductory page. Both fragile paper booklets exhibit typical, honest handling wear from over a century of storage, including minor corner bending, faint edge fraying, staple oxidation, and light surface discoloration, yet they remain exceptionally clean, highly legible, and structurally intact. H 5 7/8″, W 3 1/4″, D 0″ and H 6″, W 3.5″, D 0″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allan Koenigsberg collection.
