Description

The November 15, 1889 is the first piece of distributed literature by the newly formed Columbia Phonograph Co. It is only several pages and talks about the newly perfected phonograph and its uses and lists some of the companies already using the machines. It does not list any records for sale. In overall good but fragile condition with paper loss to the back cover, this may very well be the only surviving copy of this in existence. The Columbia Phonograph Company was officially incorporated on January 15, 1889. The company was established in Washington, D.C., by a group of investors led by lawyer and stenographer Edward D. Easton. It initially held a regional monopoly to sell and service Thomas Edison’s phonographs and wax cylinders in Delaware, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. Measures 7″T X 4.75″W. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection.
