Lot 3396:
Description
This scarce, original early 20th-century Thomas A. Edison, Inc. paper promotional booklet, titled “Fonogramas Edison Amberol Azul,” serves as a specialized catalog tailored for Spanish-speaking markets including Spanish, Mexican, Cuban, Argentine, and Puerto Rican selections. Originating from the Edison laboratories in Orange, New Jersey, the piece features a classic portrait of Thomas Edison alongside his signature trademark logo on the cover. Inside, page 2 includes instructional text in Spanish addressing English language acquisition alongside promotional copy (“Como podria Ud. conocer al verdadero Americano sin hablar, leer y escribir el idioma Ingles?”), while page 3 opens a detailed registry of available Spanish-language cylinder records—such as “A Alegre Trompeteria” and “Alma de Dios”—complete with catalog serial numbers and their 60-cent retail price point. The item remains in solid, complete condition, showing visible creases on the front cover, minor corner wear, and a small, clean tear at the lower center margin of page two, though the paper remains structurally crisp. H 6.25″, W 3.75″, D 0.05”. Please see photos for condition. From the Allan Koenigsberg collection.
