The Allen Koenigsberg Phonograph Collection
Lot 3379:
Description
This rare, early phonograph ephemera piece is a late 1902 “Edison Moulded Records” supplemental catalog published by the National Phonograph Co. formatted in a soft green paper cover. As an expert in early recorded sound history, I find this booklet particularly fascinating because it features a prominent cover correction detailing a pivotal moment in audio history: the July 25th, 1902 discontinuation of old-type wax records in favor of the “NEW PROCESS MOULDED RECORD” (commonly known to collectors as the Edison Gold Moulded cylinder). The interior pages contain comprehensive numerical lists of titles from August and September 1902, including early band selections, banjo solos by Vess L. Ossman, comic songs, and “talking” records, alongside vintage ordering instructions. It remains in very good antique condition, showing clean text, secure binding staples, and minimal edge wear or handling blemishes consistent with its age. H 6″, W 3.5″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allan Koenigsberg collection.
