Lot 3211a:
Description
This classic advertising lot features two distinct vintage representations of “Nipper,” the iconic Fox Terrier mascot for RCA Victor, historically manufactured for the Radio Corporation of America. The larger advertising still bank features a coin slot on the back and is crafted from cast pot metal, retaining its original metal base trap embossed with “Radio Corporation of America.” Strikingly, it shows compelling visual evidence of original flocking, with a distinct brownish fuzz coating most visible on the dog’s stomach and the insides of the front legs. The smaller antique chalkware or plaster statuette sits on a tiered base inscribed with “RCA Victor” on the side and “AVERY” on the front. Objectively assessing their condition, neither figure exhibits any significant cracks or damage to their structures; however, the pot metal bank exhibits a weathered surface with expected original paint and flocking loss, minor surface oxidation, and a darkened patina across the body. The smaller chalkware figure displays typical surface discoloration, mild paint wear, and small chips on the base corners consistent with age and material fragility. Cast Iron Bank: H 6.5″, W 3″, D 5.75″, Chalkware Figurine: H 4.25″, W 2.25″, D 2.5″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection.
