The Allen Koenigsberg Phonograph Collection
Lot 3185:
Description
An exceptional early 20th-century lithographed tin advertising change tray produced for the Berliner Gram-O-Phone Co. Limited in Montreal, Canada, featuring the iconic trademark graphic of Nipper the dog listening to “His Master’s Voice.” The vibrant display face promotes “The Victor and Berliner Gramophones” with original retail pricing ranging from $15.00 to $300.00, highlighting its limited production and regional usage throughout the Dominion. The reverse side retains its early promotional text block championing the instrument for family enjoyment. Objectively, the piece exhibits an honest patina with expected surface scratching, minor localized paint loss, and rim wear on the front display face, while the reverse exhibits more pronounced scratching, surface wear, and fading to the gold-toned lithography, though all text remains highly legible. H 0.5″, W 4.25″, D 4.25″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection.
