The Allen Koenigsberg Phonograph Collection
Lot 3172:
Description
All original Berliner JS disc phonograph in good condition. This machine is pictured on page 86 of the Fabrizio / Paul Talking Machine Compendium but has suffered some deterioration due to exposure since that photo was taken in 1996. The mounting board has darkened considerably and the original Berliner decal is all but gone. There is very little plating left on the motor case. The “IMPORTANT” paper label on the turntable has darkened and is fragile. The motor does wind and run. It has the original crank and side brake. The wood horn post is original. The metal stand for the horn and reproducer is a replacement made from stainless steel. There are 2 extra holes drilled into the board near the horn stand. The horn, leather elbow, and reproducer are original. Horn retains 85% of original paint with red stripe. The horn mounting wire may or may not be original. Measures 16″ wide, 9″ deep, 13″ tall to the top of the horn. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection.
