The Allen Koenigsberg Phonograph Collection
Lot 3144:
Description
Columbia 1st style Model Q cylinder phonograph on a nickel plated footed cast iron base. Columbia supplied the phonograph to Sears Roebuck who put them on the bases and sold them through their mail order catalog. This base instantly turned the “low lQ” into a highly desirable, fancy parlor showpiece. Machine winds and runs. The reproducer is missing the stylus and diaphragm. The aluminum horn is in VG condition. The plating is at about 50% and what is left is not great. Nonetheless, this is a highly desirable machine mainly because of the original cast iron base. Measures 12.75″ wide, 9″ deep, 14.5″ to the top of the horn. Comes with a newspaper article from 1976 featuring a picture of Allen holding this machine. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection.
