Description
Circa 1895 electric powered cylinder phonograph in good original condition with plating loss to the bed plate. All other parts and castings are in VG condition and the carriage moves freely.. Original finish oak case and lid with drop down front motor access. Motor is complete including 4 ball governor and spins freely but untested under power. This motor requires 110V DC and is untested.. Comes with a #2 reproducer with a good stylus, shaving attachment, no listening tubes. The lid has a mouse hole on the back left hand side which allowed the lid to be placed on the machine while the power was still connected to the binding posts. There is a nickel plated metal tag affixed to the front drop down door for the Empire State Phonograph Company of Buffalo N.Y. . Inside the case are 2 letters of correspondence. One is from the place where Allen purchased the machine in Canada in June of 1975 for $185, and the other is a typed letter to Allen from the Buffalo and Erie Public Library in July of 1975 addressing Allen’s inquiry about the Empire State Phonograph Co.
