An original “Catalog B” souvenir book and envelope. The 1893 Souvenir Edison Catalog B is a rare, historically significant trade publication produced by the North American Phonograph Company. It was specifically published as a promotional souvenir for the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago, where Thomas Edison’s emerging entertainment and business technologies were showcased to the public. It was issued by the North American Phonograph Company (New York and Chicago), which handled the exclusive commercial distribution rights for Edison’s phonographs at the time. It was distributed in the Electricity Building at the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, where early electric inventions were demonstrated to millions of international visitors. The catalog primarily highlights the Edison Class M Phonograph, a battery-powered electric unit marketed as “the most wonderful invention of the nineteenth century”. In overall good condition with detached cover. Envelope has a faint red lettering, Edison’s Phonograph, and an image of a Class M, with, North American Phonograph Co. New York Chicago underneath.
