Description
Rare1878 demonstration tinfoil phonograph made by Max Kohl, Chemintz Germany. Machine has a cast iron base with a massive flywheel and wood crank handle. The machined upper mechanism has a grooved brass mandrel and brass speaker which pivots forward. The lead screw has the half nut to disengage the screw for rapid mandrel return. The painted cast iron base has fine gold pinstripe and is screwed to a wood underbase with a single drawer. Overall in VG original condition. Measures approx 26″ wide, 10″ deep, and 13″ tall to the top of the flywheel. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection
