Description
German Gewehr 88 mauser rifle. Caliber 7.92×57 Mauser(8mm) Ludwig Loewe produced rifle is dated 1890 on receiver and has S marked barrel showing conversion to fire standard 8mm Mauser ammunition. Rifle has mismatched serial numbers and arabic marked bolt which usually implies that it was sold to and used by the Ottoman Turkish Army. Front Barrel band is still marked with Imperial German Army unit markings which are seldom seen. No visible import markings. Rifle is in fair condition for age with lots of metal wear and pitting as well as nicks and dings in the stock. Bore is dark and dirty, but should clean up. Interesting rifle that saw service for many decades. See photos.
