Description

Mid-19th century, Westley Richards percussion cap rifle made in London. Known for big game hunting rifles, Richards produced some of the finest rifles of the time. This particular rifle features a walnut stock that shows heavy wear from storage and use. The forward stock has a crack under the barrel. The tang, lock plate, trigger guard and hammer are inscribed with a floral design. The lock plate displays the marking “Richards”. It has 31-inch, round, smooth bore barrel, with London inscribed on the top. Much of the original factory finish still appears to be present. The bore needs cleaning, with signs of use and time. The ramrod measures 30 7/8 inches and is in solid condition. There is oxidation near the hammer and procession cap area. The hammer and trigger actions are smooth and tight. No sign of a serial number. Overall, the rifle appears to be in fair condition for its age. The overall length of the rifle is 47.5″.
