Lot 1045:
Description
Here is Winchester’s first successful self-loading, semi-automatic rifle, the Model 1903 chambered in .22 Winchester Automatic. Designed by T.C. Johnson and manufactured from 1903 to 1932, it features a tubular magazine located within the buttstock and a charging handle in the fore-end that resembles a cleaning rod. The rifle has a 20-inch barrel, a 10-round magazine, a two-piece walnut stock, and fixed sights. This particular rifle was produced in 1911 and the stock is in great condition for its age. The receiver has a nice dark patina, and the barrel retains much of its original bluing, with some light oxidation. Barrel and receiver serial numbers match. Bore is clean and the rifling is good. Mechanically, the action and trigger are smooth, tight and appear to function properly. Please see photos for overall condition. S/N:58728. C&R Eligible.
