Lot 292:
Description
This charming duo of Early American Pattern Glass (EAPG) showcases the classic beauty of carnival glass with its distinctive “marigold” or “oil slick” iridescence. The larger piece is a footed mug featuring the “Singing Birds” pattern, a beloved motif often attributed to Northwood or Fenton, displaying two birds perched amidst foliage. The smaller companion is a punch cup or small mug featuring a graceful swan swimming near cattails, exhibiting a rich, dark metallic sheen. Both pieces represent the early 20th-century tradition of decorative pressed glass meant to mimic expensive Favrile glass. Both items appear to be in excellent vintage condition with no visible chips or cracks, though some minor surface wear and factory mold marks are present on the bases as is typical for this type of glass. The “Singing Birds” Mug (Northwood) with the mark of a capital N inside a circle inside the glass. Large Cup: H 3.5″, W 4.25″,. Small Cup: H 2.5″, W 3.75″. Own a piece of history from The Donley’s Wild West Town Museum!
