The Frank Rider Collection - Spring Classic Part 1 - Day 2
Lot 1374:
Description
This historical phonograph accessory, manufactured by Thomas F. Morrissey of West Orange, N.J., is a rare New Old Stock (NOS) “Repeating Attachment,” patent-dated September 18, 1906. Designed specifically to fit Edison cylinder phonographs, this device allowed users to play a cylinder record repeatedly, representing a remarkable survival of early 20th-century home audio engineering. The assembly is constructed of nickel-plated steel, featuring a unique spiral-grooved shaft mechanism. This set is complete as originally packaged, including the primary mechanism and the necessary mounting linkage, all housed within the original cardboard storage box. The box shows significant edge wear, surface staining, and corner separation consistent with long-term storage, while the mechanical components remain in excellent, factory-fresh condition with only minimal oxidation from age. This is an exceptional find for a dedicated Edison collector seeking a complete, period-correct example. H 1.75″, W 7.25″, D 2.25″. Please see photos for condition.
