The Frank Rider Collection - Spring Classic Part 1 - Day 2
Lot 1286:
Description
This vintage ventriloquist dummy displays the classic, slightly unnerving charm characteristic of mid-20th-century performance figures. Constructed with a composition head and a cloth-covered body, the figure features the iconic articulated jaw mechanism used by ventriloquists to simulate speech. Its attire, consisting of a dark blazer, tan trousers, and a collared shirt, reflects the traditional aesthetic often associated with this era of entertainment history. Despite a thorough inspection, no manufacturer marks or labels are visible on the figure or its clothing, which is not uncommon for unmarked production or amateur-made figures from this period. Regarding condition, the figure shows substantial wear consistent with age and heavy use. The most severe damage is a large, deep crack running along the side of the head, compromising the structural integrity of the composition material. Additionally, the figure is missing its left hand and left foot, and the fabric of the clothing shows fraying and staining. H 36″, W 12″, D 5″. Please see photos for condition.
