The Frank Rider Collection - Spring Classic Part 1 - Day 2
Lot 1161:
Description
This organ is attributed to De Cap Organ Company, 60 key book organ, restored in 1980 by Durward Center, books are approximately 8-9/16 inches wide. Plays strong. Case and facade are both in very good condition, appears to be mechanically complete. Comes with 16 books of music. This machine was previously located in Underground Atlanta (a historic arts and entertainment district) and was owned by two airline pilots. The large, painted facade was done by a well-known artist in the Wabash (IN) area, Tony Pulley. The oval paintings are meant to represent Hope Rider in her earlier years and as an older lady. The inspiration for this concept may have come from a 1907 calendar depicting the four seasons of life. Included is a photograph showing the original side before the painting was done. The consignor notes the work is ‘Beautiful’! See video at https://youtu.be/Q1BVUTLcSwQ
