WWII C-47 Dakota Stabilizer Wing Desk
This is a spectacular piece of “trench art” on a grand scale—a genuine horizontal stabilizer from a Douglas C-47 Skytrain (the legendary “Gooney Bird”) re-purposed into a striking industrial desk or console. This authentic WWII-era aviation relic showcases classic aluminum riveted construction with internal ribs visible through the root, finished with original partial two tone olive drab leading edge that speaks to its military heritage. The piece is supported by custom-fabricated aluminum “lightened” legs with dimple-die holes, perfectly complementing the airframe’s aesthetic. It is a dream piece for any hangar, mid-century office, or aviation enthusiast. The item is in good repurposed condition, showing expected authentic wear including surface scuffing, minor oxidation to the aluminum skin, and remnants of military paint, all of which add to its historical character.
