Description
This authentic 1889 United States Land Grant, issued under the Homestead Act of 1862, awards land in Dardanelle, Arkansas, to Reuben L. Allison. Signed on June 28, 1889, by a secretary on behalf of President Benjamin Harrison, the document features a crisp embossed red seal of the General Land Office and ornate typography on vellum-style paper. An attached 1920 Arkansas Certificate of Record from Scott County provides excellent provenance, showing the document’s continued legal life decades later. The piece is in good antique condition, showing expected fold lines from historical storage, light toning, and minor edge wear consistent with age, though the text and seal remain sharp and legible.
