Hollywood Blvd Cinema Memorabilia
Lot 1453:
Description
This is a powerful piece of Civil War history: a relic Sharps Carbine recovered from the Seven Pines (Fair Oaks) battlefield in Virginia. The iron remains of the receiver, trigger guard, and barrel show the heavy oxidation and “pitting” characteristic of a long-buried battlefield excavation. Mounted on a weathered timber plank, this carbine—renowned for its accuracy and favored by cavalry—is a tangible connection to the May-June 1862 conflict. The brass plaque confirms its provenance and identifying nomenclature. The metal is heavily corroded with significant material loss, though the iconic silhouette of the breech-loader remains distinct; it is securely wire-mounted to a rustic wooden board which shows age-related cracking and wear.
