Description
This striking relief-carved wooden panel style depicts a female Orthodox saint, possibly St. Paraskevi or St. Helena, holding a cross and a scroll. Executed in a traditional Byzantine style with an intricate repeating pattern border, the piece showcases excellent depth and hand-finished detailing in the drapery of the vestments and the radiating halo. The reverse reveals a solid heavy wood construction with typical aging and water staining that does not affect the face. The front surface remains in good condition with minor surface wear and small abrasions consistent with age and display. Dimensions: W 29.5″, H 61.5″ D 2″.
