Hollywood Blvd Cinema Memorabilia
Lot 1328:
Description
These columns are a striking example of Mid-Century Chinoiserie “Hollywood Regency” style, likely originally commissioned as stage dressing or interior decor for a grand cinema palace. These double-carved wooden pilasters feature bold red lacquer-style paint, accented by raised gold leaf panels displaying the “Fu” (Fortune) and “Shou” (Longevity) calligraphy. The craftsmanship includes intricate floral and scrollwork brackets, a stylized lotus base, and a weathered gold-tone lantern with geometric piercing. The pieces show signs of use consistent with age and theatrical handling, including scattered scuffs, minor paint loss on the raised edges, and surface dust in the crevices, yet they retain a wonderful atmospheric patina. H 96″, W 15″, D 7″ Please use photos to judge condition and bid accordingly. Please note: Buyer is responsible for removal. From the Hollywood Blvd. Cinemas Collection.
