Hollywood Blvd Cinema Memorabilia
Lot 1243:
Description
This imposing figure represents Anubis, the ancient Egyptian god of mummification and the afterlife, rendered in a striking black and gold aesthetic reminiscent of the treasures found in the tomb of Tutankhamun. The statue features a jackal head with alert ears and piercing golden eyes, adorned with a highly detailed “wesekh” collar and scale-armor patterned attire. The craftsmanship suggests a high-quality resin or composite material finished with metallic leaf or paint, capturing the regal “New Kingdom” style often seen in 20th-century Egyptian Revival decor. The figure stands in a traditional striding pose on a rectangular plinth decorated with a winged scarab motif. Physically, the piece appears in good vintage condition with minor surface dust in the recessed carvings and light scuffing consistent with display and age, particularly around the base and feet. H 41″, W 9.5″, D 15″. Please use photos to judge condition and bid accordingly. Please note: Buyer is responsible for removal. From the Hollywood Blvd. Cinemas Collection.
