Hollywood Blvd Cinema Memorabilia
Lot 1149:
Description
A monumental architectural set featuring a green-painted, hand-carved facade and an integrated red-painted gated fence. The style is a high-drama interpretation of Chinoiserie, popular in early 20th-century theater and estate design, detailed with intricate dragon motifs and fierce guardian masks. The wooden façade includes four structural columns and an arched, scalloped header, while the lower section consists of a red-painted frame with heavy brass-toned iron lattice work. This assembly likely served as a grand interior entrance or partition. The “rear” of the piece is uniquely finished with additional masks and decor, suggesting it was intended for visibility from all angles. Condition is consistent with age and theatrical use; there is significant paint chipping, visible wood separation in the joints, surface oxidation on the metalwork, and various scuffs and minor losses to the carved elements. H 97″, W 132″, D 11″ Please use photos to judge condition and bid accordingly. Please note: Buyer is responsible for removal. From the Hollywood Blvd. Cinemas Collection.
