Description
Ballard Patent dropping block rifle made by the Marlin Firearms company. Caliber appears to be 38-55, but no visible markings to confirm. Very interesting late 1800s sporting rifle with 20″ octagonal heavy barrel. Rifle is missing rear buckhorn sight on barrel as well as folding Vernier sight from wrist on stock. Gun is in very good condition for age with lots of original finish remaining on barrel and receiver. Stock and forend have dents, dings and gouges, as well as one crack on forend. Interesting turn of the century rifle. See photos.
