This is a fantastic, heavy-duty example of an industrial-era mining or farm artifact, likely dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. This rugged assembly consists of a massive, riveted sheet metal well/ore bucket and a substantial cast iron well pulley, connected by a thick piece of manila rope. The bucket is a classic cylindrical design, built for extremely heavy use in a deep well, featuring an exceptionally robust iron bail handle. The cast iron pulley features a spoked design, a common stylistic choice for durable hardware of that period, and would have been mounted above the well opening to assist in raising water or materials. The overall aesthetic is one of authentic, rustic utility, and its considerable weight confirms its period-appropriate construction. The item exhibits heavy, deep-seated oxidation (rust) and patina throughout the metal components, which is appropriate for its age and outdoor use. The bottom of the bucket shows significant deterioration, including large cracks and a partial breakout of the base metal, rendering it non-functional for holding water. The rope is frayed and stained but appears structurally sound for display purposes. The pulley wheel seems to turn freely. This piece is a genuine, unrestored relic. H 17″, W 16″, D 16″ (Bucket); D 11″ (Pulley).
