Description
Robert Prowse (1858-1933) was an illustrator for many dime novel publications. This original watercolor on illustration board from, “Scouts On A Crimson Trail” features a smoking cowboy and a Native American Chief by a campfire. Titled , “An Indian’s Gratitude” the Chief is telling the cowboy to, “Sleep Wide Awake Tonight” warning him of an attack on the wagon train. . Signed RP 12 lower left. Condition VG with an old horizontal fold which does not detract from the image. Currently matted. Image measures approx 9″ wide, 8″ tall. In VG condition signed RP lower left. Currently matted. Image measures 11″tall,9.25″ wide.
