Description

Set of late 19th to early 20th century wrist irons (or shackles). Both Shackles are marked “55 / FROGGATT”, identifying them as products of the W. S. Froggatt Company of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a known manufacturer of restraint devices and locks of the time. These irons feature a robust, classic design with hinged cuffs connected by a short length of heavy chain. They are complete with their original barrel key, which is distinctively marked with the number ’55’ on the bow. The overall condition is consistent with age and use, showing a heavy, desirable brown-to-dark-brown surface patina across all components. The key fits the lock and opens the shackles.
