Old West & Native American Auction
Lot 1460:
Description
This is a wonderful example of American Folk Art Furniture, likely dating to the mid to late 20th Century, consistent with the Adirondack or Rustic Style popularized in resort areas. The construction utilizes natural materials: twigs, sticks, and branches form the cylindrical pedestal base, bound together by what appears to be vines or stripped bark in a natural, organic fashion. The round tabletop is constructed from wooden slats with an unfinished or lightly finished surface. While no maker’s mark is discernible, this type of piece was often made by local craftspeople in areas like the Adirondack Mountains, upstate New York, or the Great Lakes region. It’s a charming, hand-made piece perfect for a cabin or eclectic interior. The item appears to be in good, stable antique condition with visible surface wear, darkening, and minor cracking appropriate for its age and material, particularly on the natural wood elements. The overall structure appears sound, and there are no immediately visible major breaks or repairs. H 28.5″, W 16″, D 16′. See photos. From the Western display in Donley’s Wild West Town.
