Old West & Native American Auction
Lot 1440:
Description
A classic piece of natural history décor, this taxidermy specimen appears to be a hen Ring-Necked Pheasant (Phasianus colchicus), distinguished by her mottled brown, black, and rust-colored plumage, lacking the vibrant colors of the male. The bird is professionally mounted in a slightly downward-looking, alert pose on a naturalistic chunk of dark bark or wood, intended for shelf display. The quality of the taxidermy is good, with a lifelike head and glass eyes showing an intense red patch around the eye, common for pheasants. A paper sale tag with a barcode and handwritten number is attached near the bird’s head, and a red band is visible on one leg. The item is in very good overall condition, with the feathers appearing full and well-preserved. There are no major signs of material loss or fading visible in the photographs, though the typical light dust and wear associated with age are present. H 11″, W 8″, D 21″ From the Western display in Donley’s Wild West Town.
