Old West & Native American Auction
Lot 1406:
Description
Essential equipment for hunters, ranchers, and lawmen, this is a classic piece of Old West gear dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. The belt is crafted from heavy, saddle-grade brown leather and features sewn-in loops that hold 36 casings of .44 WCF. The leather displays a rich, aged patina with a sturdy metal buckle and a keeper. A faint markers mark is visible in black ink near the belt buckle. Additionally, there are 23, .44 WCF blank rounds inserted throughout the various casing loops. The several casings show different levels of verdigris. The belts overall condition is fair to good vintage condition, exhibiting use and age-appropriate wear, including dryness, surface scratches, and cracking of the leather. The stitching for the casing loops is sound, though show shows wear. The metal buckle shows a dark patina, consistent with age. L 40.25″, W 2.”
*Due to the blanks rounds, Illinois buyers will need a FOID card.
