Description
Produced by C. Sharps Rifle Company, this is one of the most famous single shot rifles of the American West. This is a falling block, breech-loading rifle with serial number “C, 44553” stamped in the top tang. The butt stock and forward stock are made of walnut, which is in good condition, showing handling marks and small nicks. The receiver, butt plate, lever, and barrel exhibit a factory finish. The rifle has a 30-inch octagonal barrel which is set with a rear adjustable sight and a fixed dovetail front sight with a brass fin. Stamped under the rear site is “R.S. LAWRENCE PATENTED FEB 15, 1859” The left side of the receiver displays the markings “C. Sharp PAT Sept 12th 1849”. The right tang displays the markings C. Sharp PAT Oct 5th 1852. The bore is clean and has good rifling. The action moves smoothly and is tight. The overall length of the rifle is 47.5 inches.
