Lot 1321:
Description
Two (2) late 19th to early 20th century Harrington & Richardson (H&R) Arms Company Auto-Ejecting Top Break Revolvers. Based in Worcester, Massachusetts, U.S.A., H&R was a major competitor at the time in the “pocket revolver” market, offering quality and functionality at a great price point. Both revolvers have the company’s name “HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON ARMS CO” stamped on the barrel rib. The smaller framed H&R displays the patent dates of “PAT OCT. 4 87 MAY 14 & AUG 6 89 APRIL 2 95 APRIL 7 1896” on the rib of the barrel, placing this revolver in the Second Model, Fourth Variation (manufactured circa 1897-1904) range. It also features a 6-shot cylinder and is chambered in .32 cal. The serial number “C 42765” is stamped on the barrel near the top break and partial serial numbers are visible on the frame under the grip and on the cylinder. The larger frame H&R displays the caliber size “38 S&W. CTGE” on the side of the barrel and the serial number 449223 on the frame, near the grip. It features a 5-shot cylinder, which displays a partial serial number. Both revolvers have a 4 7/8” barrel, are nickel plated and have checkered grips. They both are in good condition for their age. The nickel finishes are bright with a pleasing patina, showing some minor wear, swirling, and light surface scratches consistent with use and handling for over a century. The trigger guards and hammers are blued steel. The bores and rifling are in very good condition. The triggers and actions are tight and smooth. Please see photos for overall condition. From Donley’s Wild West Town Museum.
