Description

These were specifically issued to cavalry and other mounted troops of the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) and were a clear evolution from earlier canvas-only versions. The design is instantly recognizable by the protective, sculpted brown leather shin panel, which provided essential protection while riding, transitioning into a durable khaki canvas calf wrap. The closure system is correct for the M-1917 pattern, featuring a full-length row of metal grommets and the original canvas/cloth lacing system down the side. A faint manufacturer marking is present on the inside of both leggings. The overall condition is good, showing appropriate wear for their age and military service, including creasing and scuffs to the leather, slight discoloration and staining to the canvas, and minor fraying on the laces.
