Description
Mission Oak Arts & Crafts Arm Chair
This handsome piece is a classic example of Arts & Crafts furniture, likely dating from the early 20th century, embodying the straightforward utility and honest construction championed by the Mission style. Constructed of quartersawn oak, known for its distinctive ray-fleck grain pattern, the chair features a sturdy rectilinear form with flat, broad armrests and vertical slats in the back, consistent with designs from major manufacturers like Gustav Stickley or L. & J.G. Stickley. The rich, reddish-brown stain enhances the wood’s figure. It retains its original or period-appropriate drop-in seat cushion upholstered in what appears to be a rust or reddish-orange leather or vinyl. The overall condition is good vintage, commensurate with age and use. There are visible surface scratches and minor abrasions to the wood, particularly on the legs and armrests. The cushion shows some cracking and wear, consistent with a lifetime of use. Dimensions: H 41″, W 24.5″, D 16”. NOTE: Pickup/transport required. Contacts available post auction.
