Old West & Native American Auction
Lot 1243:
Description
This is a classic American Mission Style dining chair, likely crafted from Quarter Sawn Oak with a rich, dark stain, characteristic of the Arts and Crafts era, circa 1900-1920s. Its clean, rectilinear lines, vertical slat back, and sturdy construction embody the style’s emphasis on utility and honest materials. The underside clearly bears the metal tag for Quality Furniture, Grand Rapids, Michigan, a known manufacturer from that furniture-making hub. The chair is in good, used, antique condition; the finish shows expected wear, fading, and scuffing consistent with a piece of this age, particularly on the seat and legs. The wood beneath the chair shows evidence of an old repair, including metal staples/wire reinforcing a split. The joinery appears mostly sound, offering a solid structure. H 38″, W 16.25″, D 15′ Note: Pickup/Transport required. Contacts available post auction.
