Description
Chemehuevi basket circa 1930. The Chemehuevi translated as “Those that play with fish” were a nomadic tribe and resided in the mountains and canyons of the Mojave Desert and along the Colorado River shoreline; currently they live in the Chemehuevi Valley. This basket is a tightly woven featuring a set of evenly spaced zigzag patterns descending from a band around the rim to the base. Excellent condition. Dimensions: 7” rim diameter x 4” tall x 3.5” base diameter. See photos.
