Description

Gunstock Club w/Beaded Drop
This gunstock war club likely dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. Serving as both a weapon and a symbol of status, this beautiful club is constructed from hardwood, exhibiting a rich natural grain. The handle is adorned with subtle elements such as a series of brass inlays (tacks minus the heads) as well as several burned lines in the head of the club. The blade emerges from the forward-facing edge and is 6.25” long and its base is approximately 1” wide. The blade has a brass disc inlay, as well as several star bursts etched into both faces of the blade. The base of the club features a pommel reminiscent of a waterfowl head. Incorporated into the design of the handle. Suspended from the eye of the waterfowl, is a beaded drop that incorporates glass seed beads as well as natural animal elements (fur and hair) as well as a selection of other contemporary beads and trinkets. Good condition. Dimensions: 31” long. See photos.
