Lot 1157:
Description
This is a small boat shaped pomo basket circa 1920s. This particular basket exhibits several characteristics typical of pomo weaving including a tight coiled weave resulting in a smooth surface. The zigzag pattern found throughout the piece likely uses red bud bark or bracken Fern for the desired effect. The rim The basket is adorned with evenly spaced clamshell disk beads around and it is possible that quail feathers were attached to these beads with evidence of possible feathers on the proximal ends. Around the sides of the basket are very small red-feathered tufts protruding from the basket weave. Dimensions: 5.5” long x 3.5” wide x 1.5” deep. Please see photos.
