Description
Three baskets- Salish and Papago
This lot features three distinct Native American baskets. 1) Salish, cylindrical form basket with lid, showcasing intricate woven geometric design. The characteristic rattle top lid features loose elements inside that create subtle sounds when moved. This basket has been repaired. Dimensions: 4”x5”. see photos. 2) Papago (Tohono O’odham) basket. This larger rounded form basket with geometric zig zag pattern woven with dark fiber. Overall the condition of the weave is tight and quite good, with a visible break on the rim. Dimensions: 8.5”x6.25”. See photos. 3) the smallest of the three baskets is a coiled grass basket. The weave is tight and there are no breaks in the material. There is a stained area visible on the interior near the base measuring 3.5 inches by 1 inch. It is also visible on the exterior of the stain but very minimally. Dimensions: 4.25” rim diameter, 4” tall, 5” base diameter. Sits off center. See photos.
