Old West & Native American Auction
Lot 1084a:
Description
This Native American Northern Plains bow measures approximately 60” length. Constructed from a single piece of wood, possibly Osage or Hickory- materials traditionally favored for their strength and flexibility. The bow is simple and unadorned, characteristic of utilitarian bows from the Plains region. The bow profile is slightly curved, indicating it is a self-bow, meaning made from a single piece of wood without additional reinforcement. There are several longitudinal cracks in the bow structure. Please see photos.
