October Fall Classic
Lot 2118:
Description
An incredible and rare survivor, this early 20th-century advertising parasol has fantastic graphic appeal. These large umbrellas were often used on farmers tractors for much needed shade, delivery wagons or store fronts and rarely withstood the test of time. The six panels alternate between advertising the “Hurst Clothing Store, Galena, Ill.” and the rugged “Stag Trousers” brand of workwear. The canvas canopy is in authentic, as-found condition, with significant fading, staining, and some small holes, but the bold graphics remain clear and powerful. The wooden shaft and frame appear to be in good, stable condition. It stays open when locked and closes properly. Dimensions” 64″ when open and 67″ long. NOTE: Pickup/transport required. Contacts available post auction.
