Description
A fantastic and character-filled antique wheeled pull toy, likely of German origin circa 1900. This French Bulldog or Boston Terrier “growler” is wonderfully expressive, with its original glass eyes, articulated jaw, and bristle ruff collar. The toy is constructed of composition over a wood frame, with inset wooden wheels in its paws. Pulling the chain leash was designed to operate an internal bellows mechanism, causing the jaw to move and make a growling sound. The jaw does move freely by hand and does “growl” but the chain hangs up when pulled so it is not recommended to pull the chain. The toy is in overall VG condition which only adds to its authentic vintage charm. Measures 13″ tall, 17″ long.
