October Fall Classic
Lot 2043:
Description
This is a stunning collector’s edition set of Very Very Old Fitzgerald 12 Year Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon, a highly sought-after product from the famed Stitzel-Weller Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky. The intact red and gold federal tax stamp dates the bottling to 1966, meaning the bourbon was distilled in 1954—firmly placing it in the era of legendary distiller Julian “Pappy” Van Winkle. This is one of the oldest Bottled-in-Bond expressions from that period. This Bottled-in-Bond, 100-proof wheated bourbon is presented in an elegant, clear glass decanter, complete with its original, vibrant emerald green velvet-lined presentation case and the two gold-leaf rimmed shot glasses. The presentation box itself, with its gold foil-stamped eagle, is a classic mid-century piece of Americana. The sealed status and full-set completeness are the biggest value drivers here. The item is in exceptional vintage condition; the glass appears flawless, and the full contents are undisturbed. The box shows only very minor cosmetic wear, such as light scuffs and fading to the velvet liner, consistent with nearly six decades of storage. H 12″, W 8.5″, D 4″ (box)
