A truly rare piece of vintage automobilia, this is a large-scale, 1950s-era German instructional model of an automobile chassis. Produced by IKF-Modell (Ingenieur-Kraftfahrzeug-Modellbau) as the WR 170, these models were essential tools in post-war engineering and vocational schools for demonstrating the complex mechanical workings of a car. The model features a bold red body and a contrasting blue chassis, exposing the entire engine, drive train, suspension, and steering components. The engine is complete with spark plugs and a distributor, while the front and rear suspension show intricate coil spring mechanisms. The model shows significant wear and tear consistent with its age and educational purpose. The red paint on the wooden base and body panels has numerous chips and scuffs, the white steering wheel is yellowed with a large crack, and various metal components display surface corrosion and grime. Several wires appear disconnected and some parts may be missing. Its working condition is unknown and it is being offered as-is. The model measures an estimated 50 inches long by 18 inches wide by 20 inches tall.
