Description
Large all wood metal foundry pattern for a flywheel to drive a flat wide belt to power other machinery. These patterns were used in sand casting foundries where the wood pattern had casting sand packed all around it, the pattern removed, and molten iron poured into the void to cast the part. The rough casting was then removed from the sand and finished with grinders and precision machines. Most likely dates form the 1880’s. Embossed lettering on spokes reads, Link Belt, Philadelphia, Chicago, Indianapolis, and “D.P. 410-41. Measures 54″ diameter x 6.25” wide. NOTE: Pickup/transport required.
