Description
An original roll top in overall good condition with the exception that over the years, the glue joints dried out and the owner used wood screws to hold panels together – see photos. Desk has paneled sides and back, twenty-three inside compartments, two with drawers. Two wood sliding platform panels, one on each front side. Seven lower drawers. Has original finish in a beautiful golden oak tone. Some normal wear to finish, light scuffs, scratches, nicks. Lower left drawer pull has been replaced. Desk is still a stunning piece and tambour functions as it should (has key). This desk was owned by Al Choffnes who is legendary in the antique music box industry. Al was known world-wide for repairs, restoration and his vast knowledge of vintage and antique music boxes. The desk came from his office where he did much of his intricate repair work.
