Description

Mosaic chunk glass window.
Created by Barrington, IL architect Fred Schurecht (1915-1982). The style is classic mid-to-late 20th-century décor, reminiscent of work found in regional craft fairs or repurposed material movements. The central design is a bold, haphazard mosaic composed of large, irregular shards of deeply colored glass, including reds, blues, amber, and yellows, set into a dark gray, heavy concrete matrix. The piece has a substantial, rugged feel, typical of handmade outdoor items. The visual information provided indicates a generally good vintage condition, exhibiting minor expected wear such as small nicks to the concrete rim and typical surface scratches to the glass, consistent with outdoor use or storage. There are no obvious major chips or cracks visible in the concrete body or the glass itself. This was intended to be a window, never installed. Aside from its intended use, this would make a beautiful patio or garden piece. Either as a stepping stone or a table top. Depth 1.25″, Diam 63.75″ See photos. NOTE: Pickup/transport required.
